Since October 2015, Halle02 has established “FunkLoch”, an extremely successful event series. Every second Wednesday of the month, “FunkLoch” lays the foundation for the evening with partially rehearsed and partially own songs. Then the evening changes into jam session mode, and randomly invites other musicians on stage. Now everything is possible in terms of spontaneous communication between the musicians. However, a certain danceableness is strived for. If you ask the founders for references, you get names like LTJ Bukem, Wolfgang Haffner, José James and – very hip! – Snarky Puppy. On mixing all of that, the crossover signs point to psychedelic groovy improvisations with a proximity to jazz. The whole thing is very entertaining, especially because there are surprises in store. Every evening is unique! And, to celebrate its first anniversary, Enjoy Jazz has taken it into its programme, also because its open-minded philosophy matches that of the Festival.
