For the sake of the song! If you leaf through the booklet of “I Love You”, Malakoff Kowalski’s album, you will find names like Klaus Lemke, Maxim Biller and Helene Hegemann. So hip it hurts! That’s what you think, but it turns out different when you listen to the simple, playful, yearning, slightly weary but very clear songs and instrumentals on “I Love You”. It is the kind of light, melancholic, instrumental music you want to hear at dusk on a very hot and humid summer evening in the city. And now a drink! Or maybe even a little adventure? Incidentally, Malakoff takes this lightness seriously. In his rare concerts, he demands concentrated attention for his songs about robust tenderness. As the newspaper F.A.S. once wrote: “The yearning this music invokes is not for the past, but for a different present.”
With this concert, the “Heidelberger Frühling” is guest at Enjoy Jazz for the first time. This is a wonderful exchange between partners who not only share a love of music, but also value and promote the power of variability. In 2017, the Enjoy Jazz Festival will, in turn, be represented with a concert at the Heidelberger Frühling.
