One may think that with Pete Wareham’s Project Melt Yourself Down the legendary pop group has returned from the early 80ies, because nothing fundamental has changed: “For how much longer do we tolerate mass murder?” Melt Yourself Down also brews an energy of anger, rage and sadness in a wild-passionate political-dancefloor hybrid of bebop, African elements, no wave, post-punk, hard core, dubstep and noise. Led by singer/shouter Kushal Gaya who transforms his apocalyptic statements into high energy, directly exorcizing them from different languages. To put it differently: if there is disease, war, terror and death everywhere then perhaps one shouldn’t spend the “Last Evenings on Earth” (album title) watching quiz shows and national league but see to the revolution on the streets. Or to an appropriate party? Musically, Melt Yourself Down brings together many paths: they have worked with, or still do, with Polar Bear, Acoustic Ladyland, Three Trapped Tigers, Sons of Kemet, The Comet Is Coming and Zun Zun Egui. Seriously sounds like a Brit-Jazz super group, don’t you think?
