Théo Le Vigoureux, in his mid-twenties, has a mysterious stage name, Fakear, and is one of the shooting stars in the French electronic music scene. He comes from Normandy and first had to make his way from the countryside to the inner metropolitan circles of Paris. This probably contributed to his very individual and fresh productions which do not follow the rules of urban hipness, but instead set new standards themselves. He works extensively with the MPC drum machine and voice samples, and several EPs and his first album “Animal” give a hint of the potential in this young man, who is drowning remix requests. Interestingly, Fakear does not consider himself to be part of French club culture, which is internationally renowned, for example though Daft Punk and Justice. He wants to do his own “pop thing” he once said in an interview, and bore neither himself nor his audience with his tracks. He wants people to understand his work, he says without conceit. Unarguably, his pieces have major pop appeal; meanwhile, the MPC virtuoso has full concert halls and he performs all over the world—and luckily now also in Mannheim.
