This year, Thomas Siffling spent most of the early summer in Sandhausen. There, in the studio “Die kleine Audiowelt” he and the musicians of his newly lined-up band recorded a new album. They wanted: electronics, energy and groove. In the year in which Bugge Wesseltoft’s “New Conception of Jazz” celebrates its 20th birthday, Thomas Siffling recollects the broad span of its dramaturgies, the electric Miles Davis and the pressure that Medeski Martin & Wood create live. We are honestly very curious what the five musicians have brewed together in Sandhausen, especially considering that Siffling, born in Karlsruhe, never gave the impression of being satisfied with luke-warm “retro” poses, neither with his trio nor in his different side projects with Claus Boesser-Ferrari and Daniel Prandl. It is an honour that Thomas Siffling will present this new chapter of his musical career live at Enjoy Jazz. The Festival has reliably accompanied his musical developments of this bustling musician who now calls Mannheim home.
