With his first hand experience working as a prison doctor for a good quarter of a century he played his role as a forensic doctor in the German crime series “Tatort” so well that he was invited to talk shows and wrote a book. Not much information about prison life is available and so a talented speaker like Joe Bausch was always a welcome guest at different talk shows, and he does not run out of things to say. From his own experience, Bausch knows why re-socialisation is rarely achievable in prison. However, as talk shows are held for entertainment and not for analysis purposes, Bausch wrote “Gangsterblues. Harte Geschichten”, a collection of ambiguous and moving real-life stories about the tragedies and banalities of life behind bars. Bausch considers himself too old for gangster rap, even though he has met more prisoners than most gangster rappers have. He talks about “Gangsterblues” with Thomas Siffling and Tobias Altripp accompanies them on piano.
