Have a look at one of Goat’s online shows to know what you would miss if you don’t come to their Enjoy Jazz concert: Goat play an extremely infectious and contemporary melange of krautrock, afro beat, funk, drone and psychedelic—you could also call it crazy power rock. And they wear hippiesque costumes and carnevalesque masks, dance across the stage and give the impression of a country commune at a summer festival gone crazy, but held together by a driving beat. Grand! The music collective’s founding myth says that at that time they got together in the small village of Korpilombolo to pass the time playing music together—kind of as if Can had risen from the dead in the form of trolls on a Swedish midsummer’s night. Their debut album was released in 2012, with the not so modest title “World Music”. They chose it, says Christian Johannsson, because they have always believed that they play world music—doesn’t everybody do that really? He is right. Not far off is the evenings support: Josefin Öhrn from Sweden also likes it psychedelic, but has more pop-affinity than Goat. One more reason to not miss this concert.
