Enjoy Jazz-Schulbigband

The concert is sold out.

Usually, people are requested to turn off smartphones before a performance. However, at the Enjoy Jazz Family Festival, taking place in collaboration with the BASF SE, children and their guardians are explicitly asked to use their phones during the concert. Because Tin Men and the Telephone are a sublimely funny, quick-witted, virtuous and surprising trio that that close the gap between stage and audience. How does that work? Before the concert, the children can download an app (Tinmendo) onto their smartphones. This app enables communication with the band during the performance and can influence the music. So they vote whether the band should change from fast to slow rhythms, or use higher tones, and whether it is the bassist or pianist’s turn to play the next solo. They can also send messages that then appear on the screen giving the concert yet another twist. Talking of twists and turns: the three Dutchmen love rhythmically incorporating all sorts of everyday and disturbing noises into their classical trio playing. This not only brings about very funny effects, it also opens up to new sound experiences. The Family Festival will end with a further wonderful sound experience: the Enjoy Jazz School Big Band will be playing the grand finale of the afternoon.
